Kuga transmission malfunction

Afternoon all,
My FIL has a 2017 1.6 diesel Kuga TDCi auto. A year ago it had a transmission oil change, and since then, almost every day when cold, it throws a ‘Transmission malfunction Service now’ message and goes into limp mode. After a power-cycle it always works fine for the rest of the day. The franchised dealer who did the oil change denied responsibility because there was no fault code and they couldn’t reproduce, and, a while later, another mechanic with diagnostics confirmed there are no fault codes.
Does anyone have any bright ideas of possible causes please?
