Bought a performance pack st2 mk8 earlier today without knowing much about the car - all seems good at the show room

After driving it a bit I’ve noticed these points and would like to know if it’s normal

- around 1-2k rpm there’s vibration and exhaust drone, it reminds me the effect after changing downpipes and exhaust on my old car

- engine auto stop start (although I always tend to turn off) starts up with a bang/thump

- android auto very buggy and sometimes closes randomly - will try a new usb cable

- flat foot shifting seems fun and doesn’t feel too stressful on the transmission/clutch am I wrong?

- passenger door rattling when cold

Otherwise it’s a great little rocket and really impressed with the way it drives/handles

Having had one of these I would be inclined to take a look at the torque mount between the gearbox and the engine. It is a well known part that can fail OR if it has been "upgraded" to a firmer aftermarket one that would explain the noise you get. I changed mine at the same time as fitting a new exhaust and I was adamant that the exhaust was blowing somewhere due to the noises this mount created. It would also make the cabin vibrate more which could explain your door rattle.

Everything isn't normal bar the door rattles but by all means have a whinge at the dealer about that too. The android auto issues might be solved with a software update - connect it to your wifi or tether using your mobile and update it.

May be worth checking the rubber exhaust mounts as they tend to break , allowing the exhaust to rattle. I upgraded my Mk 7 to poly hangers.

As for flat foot shifting, why would you even do that?

Thanks for your replies. I was away and only now got a chance to take it ford. They think the drone and startup is probably due to worn engine mounts but won’t know unless they change them.
