Hi all

I have a 1980 TVR Tasmin with a ford cologne V6 and a Type 9 5 speed gearbox, the gearbox has decided to be very unhappy.

I'm looking to get it rebuilt or replaced, does anyone know anyone who can still rebuild the gear box or might have a suitable gear box?

I believe the gearbox came out of the ford transit (might make a difference for positioning of the gearstick and length of bell housing/dive shaft etc?)

I'd appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

If you buy a replacement rather than doing a rebuild make sure it comes from a V6 car (Capri 2.8i, Granada 2.8, Sierra XR4i).

A four cylinder gearbox has a different bellhousing, a shorter input shaft and different ratios.

thanks for the replies so far.

I'd given the garage the details for BGH, he says he's tried to contact them but no response.

I'll look into the others, and maybe ring BGH myself

I can remember years ago that this place did a lot with Ford gearboxes, it was mainly fwd but I’m sure they are worth a try.

They are quite famous for being hard to get hold of, thats why I ended up with Paul @ First Motion.

Just phoned and spoken to them, really friendly, and reasonably priced. Thanks for the recommendation.
