I have a 2009 TDCi 2.0 SMAX that i have owned from new and its been faultless....until this morning. Driving to work and the lights went out for a short distance then came back on only to go off again a few minutes later. Switched the car off and that seemed to go away. However the wipers now come on automatically as i speed up and are speed sensitive, only stopping when i stop. left the car for a few hours and went for another drive but the wiper issue persists. Anybody had this one before?

How old is the battery? Most Ford electrical gremlins seem to point to an old / dying battery.

Its about 5 years so not silly. However doesn't get a huge amount of use so I will take a look there. Thanks.

This. A new battery on my old Mondeo cured a few random peculiarities.

Thanks. Tried a new battery. unfortunately turned out to be a Body Control module (BCM) so not a cheap fix! Hunting a round the forums its a fairly common issue.

Thanks all for your input
