Hi all, feel free to move this to different section if needed.
Looking for some help with my Fiesta ST mk7 180. I have posted about this before last year but wanted to try again and see if anyone could help.

Bit of backstory first. It's a 2016 car I bought it privately last July with roughly 34000 miles on it. Loved it at first. Soon started noticing a crunch between 1st and 2nd gear, only occasionally though. I fitted a short shifter under the bonnet and that cured it. That was first ever modification. Car was completely standard before that.

A few weeks later, I started hearing a knocking noise when changing gear. Took it to one garage who advised me it was rear beam bushes but they didn't want to do the job and said I was better off taking it to Ford so that's what I did. Ford couldn't find a problem with the bushes so nothing was done.

I then tried another independent garage who told me the knocking noise was due to one of the top engine mounts failing and advised me to buy a Powerflex part. Bought the part, they fitted it. That didn't fix it.

I took it back and they said the noise is most likely just a characteristic of the car. I was sceptical of this since I didn't hear the noise when I test drove the car before I bought it.

MOT was due in February and I wanted to keep a main dealer service history so took it back to Ford, (same dealer as before) and they said this time that the rear beam bushes were now starting to crack they put it down as an advisory along with a "small diff seal leak. Got that all sorted and still made no difference.

A few weeks ago I bought the rear engine mounts and bracket kit from Powerflex and had that fitted to replace the OEM parts. Again, sadly made no difference to the knocking noise, though it has made it easier to pin point when the noise is happening during gear changes.

If I'm correct, the knocking noise seems to happen just as you come off the clutch after selecting a new gear. If you stay on the clutch for a couple of seconds after selecting the new gear then it doesn't seem to happen but you make very little progress in speeding up to keep up with traffic and for a hot hatch, it's not how you want to drive trying to enjoy a good road.

As I've had two mounts upgraded, it made sense, to me at least, to just buy the last one which is the "upper transmission mount insert" so I've ordered that and will have it fitted but I'm not holding out much hope.

Is there anyone who can suggest what might be causing this problem and what to do to get it fixed? I've heard it could be the dual mass flywheel but no way to know for sure unless you drop the gearbox which is going to cost an arm and a leg in labour fees. I've also heard it could be a driveshaft but again, would be expensive to diagnose. I wouldn't mind paying to fix it if I knew it would definitely solve the issue once and for all but as it's all trial and error, I don't want to keep sinking money into it.

Anyway, sorry this has been really long winded but wanted to be as detailed as possible so thanks in advance.

A clunk on gearshift with the Mk7 ST usually indicates a rear most engine/gearbox mount being knackered but you have changed that.

However you mention i grind between 1-2 , at that point I’d be looking at either the slave cylinder sticking ( try bleeding it), a faulty clutch or the dual mass knocking
