Hi Folks,

My daughter has bought a 1.0 eco boost fiesta 2013

The start/stop is not functioning. I suspect it's down to the fact it looks like it is still on it's original battery and has only done some 700 miles since October last year.

Question is.... Can I just change the battery like we did in the old days by just disconnecting and remove/replace?

Or does it have to be connected to a power source (which I don't have so as not to mess with the computer/keys/radio etc?

cheers

Trickle charge it before changing. Start/Stop needs 78%(?) battery to work so always worth a go first.
To state the obvious, but just in case, remember to get the correct start/stop battery if you do replace.
You can just change it in the normal way, no need to plug in.

For anyone who may be interested I ended up buying a battery from Ford, as they were the only ones who could give me the same battery that was in the car.
I also asked for a discount and he knocked of £12 which was good of him.....so ask...have no shame it works ! I paid £141 for it. 3 year warranty.

I chucked it in the car, and the start/stop started working straight away, so really happy it was the original battery that was the problem. Seeing that the car had the original battery in it and had hardly done any miles since October hardly surprising it wouldn't hold a full enough charge for the s/s to work.

One thing I did find surprising is just how large the battery is for a 1.0 l engine. It must be the load a s/s feature puts on a battery

Nice result! Just a little tip you may/may not already know, they’re a bugger for drawing power for a phone charger (even without phone connected) so always pull the wire out out when not using

some do need the battery sensor resetting, on my 2012 Mondeo it was ....

With lights set to auto or on ... ignition on and all carried out within 10 minutes....
press rear fog light button 5 times
press hazard switch 3 times

wait for battery light to flash on dashboard to confirm reset.
