My daughter likes the fiesta she appears to like the sound of a 1.0 ecoboost car? what are they like? problems/Good bits please. Her budget is £5k
cheers
Luck of the draw to be honest. They're not called Ecoboom for nothing. On the other hand we run two Fiestas and a Focus as courtesy cars and they never miss a beat. My OH's daughter and SOL have one of each and they've both been good as gold as well.cheers

There’s a group action claim because there’s been so many problems. What more do you need to know?
I have seen the issues with the auto gearboxes but I have been driving Fiesta EcoBoosts as demo cars for the last 3 years. I usually own a Fiesta for around 1 year and I beat it daily and I havent had any bother. My MPG for the 1.0l engines are around 40MPG combined, you could get that higher. I have the 140PS version now and its has the right amount of power to have fun. My wife has had one for the last 4 years.
Never had any issues, it takes her abuse without complaint.
Makes a surprisingly nice noise for a little 3 cylinder and is actually fairly nippy.
£0 road tax too.
Only potential thing to be aware of is that it requires a certain type of oil, which can be expensive and items such as spark plugs are expensive. However, this is all relative.

Owned a 2013 1.0 EcoBoost 125 for a while. Had 90k on the clock and ran completely fine. Knew the previous owner who owned from new and had no issues during that time. Just tyres and brakes as you'd expect. As the poster above mentioned 40mpg sounds about right. Can be squeezed up to mid 50's if you really trundle it about. Does require some liberal use of the rev-band and can be quite laboured on the motorway. Really enjoyed the car though and was incredibly cheap to run!
My wife has a 2014 1L Ecoboost Titanium that has done > 160K miles by the previous (1) owner. Maintained by Ford every 12.5K miles as per the recommendation and it's been without issue for the past year.

OP, if she decides to go for one by all means get in touch and I'll check Ford Etis to see if it's had any worrying work done...assuming she's looking at used of course.
Would you mind if I message you the VIN? I'm interested in a full spec sheet if you can produce one from Etis?twing said:

That's very good of you to offer. Cheersour local garage is getting one in on Saturday as a part exchange. They claim it has a full service history, which will have to be verified as they have not yet seen the paperwork. He says he test drove it and it felt and drove OK. and believes it to be "tidy"
As strange as it seems, we trust this garage not to sell her a lemon as we have a good relationship with them since my son worked there for a Saturday job wiping the cars down for them, they sold him his first car which has been great.
I shall go up on Saturday and kick the tyres, and thanks for the "Etis" review. It's a bloody minefield buying cars, and she is not very patient

I leased one of the black editions a few years ago - 140bhp out of a little 3 pot turbo, thrashed it for 2 years/30,000 miles everywhere and never missed a beat.
Made a mess of my head as this was a run around to keep miles down on the Porsche I had at the time, had to question do I need an expensive car when the little fiesta did everything pretty well.

Am I right in believing the daughter will enjoy the power after having a 1.0 Yaris (05 plate) that she is constantly moaning about?
Yeah even the 100PS engine has good pickup. There is 3 different engine powers- 100PS 120PS and 140PS. Id say have a look at insurance and see whats best. My other half was looking for a new car and the mk8 fiesta 1.0 100ps ecoboost ticked all the boxes. We took one out for a test drive yesterday and I thought it was great, good pickup for a 3 pot and plenty of power for the other half around town etc. Really impressed. Found a good example on the forecourt, deal done and due to pickup during the next week
