As title says, just about to pick up an 3 year old Focus, it comes with a 3 month warrantee, but have been offered another year for £360.

Quick look on line and the other after-market ones are way more expensive for the same cover

Or should I just shut up and not bother smile

Is it a real ford warranty or a dodgy back street garage warranty?

If it's the former then perhaps (my late mother had one and got her gearbox replaced under it) if it's the latter then the chances of claiming on it are imho as likely as your focus turning into a gt40

Carefully read the terms and conditions of the warranty, paying particular attention to exactly what's covered and the claim limits, both number and value. If it suits your needs, buy it otherwise keep your money.

Comes with 3 month warranty
a 12 month warranty is £360 extra

The last 3 Fords bought in my family came with the similar option all from main dealer
I argued you are giving me 3 month warranty for free (they argued it wasn't as good as a bought warranty)

12 months for £360 .... so in theory I am paying for 9 months warranty

I had free 3 month warranty and the 12 month started at end of 3 months
Total warranty 15 months

Fiesta ST knackered its steering rack after 14 months

done under warranty luckily

We had the option to purchase the additional warranty with Donna's Kuga (brought around 3/4years old). I think there was a longer term than just a year and its always tempting.

In the end we declined, as we found the dealer we brought it from a bit stupid? Like they couldn't fit the rear boot floor in it properly saying it had got wet and changed shape not covered by warranty... it turned out to be a rear seat bracket causing an issue and just needed a bit of force. Also we asked for a tail light to be replaced as wasn't fitted correctly and cracking on tailgate... they then rehanged the tailgate so it was crocked, also replaced the LED light with a halogen and apparently didn't noticed the difference....

Personally unless you have previous good experience with said garage and plan to use them in future, as otherwise I wouldn't bother. Which Focus / engine are you buying? Remember things like batteries aren't included.

Thats all for the input, I will go with the Ford one. I will contact Ford protect to see if it can start after the 3 month one runs out. Can get it for £329 if I have a £50 excess
