MK1 Focus..potential gearbox/clutch issue
Discussion
My usually v reliable MK1 focus (petrol) seems to have a 'notchy' or stiff feel to the gear change and to some extent the clutch too.
Today the clutch got stuck in reverse gear.. even after the clutch was released, for a few mins couldn't get out of reverse gear. After stalling the car on purpose I was able to get the gear stick back to neutral.
It's a 2004 1.8 petrol on original OEM clutch/gearbox.
Is this possibly the beginning of the end for the clutch or gearbox?
My indie says they need to run diagnostic first and that parts prices are volatile due to covid so no idea of ballpark repair costs.

Sounds like your slave cylinder is on the way out or you have air in the system, with regards to parts prices a three piece clutch kit for a petrol Focus is only about £150 and any decent garage should be able to fit it in about three hours so you'd be looking at a few hundred quid at most to get it sorted.
