Ford Kuga PHEV; any Ford people on here?
Discussion
Evening all,
I did put a post in car buying a few days ago but no response, not really sure of best section.
I have a Kuga PHEV on order as a company car, does anyone have any idea of lead times given the issues / recalls etc?
Whether you have ordered one yourself or work within a dealership?
Thanks.

Haven't Ford had to recall their entire PHEV line up over battery fires/faults?
I have read online exactly as you say, if people have taken delivery that they are being recalled and I’m sure I read somewhere that new orders had also been stopped. What I’m not clear on however is what is happening to the orders that people have waiting and was interested to hear what other people have been told / lead times quoted.
Thanks.
Does anyone know if the recall / delays are just for the PHEV model or does it also affect other models? I was thinking about ordering a 1.5 diesel model, which doesn't have any hybrid technology and therefore 12V battery issues.
My assumption was that this wouldn't be impacted by the recall and that Ford are still producing this model, however the text above implies all models are being recalled. Surely it should only be the PHEV models being recalled

I’ve had a Kuga Phev since august and they have said the fix will to replace the HV battery will be done for me in jan-March. We have been compensated with a £750 fuel card due to not being able to plug in.
The main issue with the fix for current cars is the local dealers need some specialist equipment fitting in their workshops to do the fix. As far as I know from reading various groups the ones still at the factory in Valencia are being realised now with the fix already in place
It doesn’t affect the diesel versions, however there may be less around as some people have took up the option to swap their PHEV with the diesel versions
There is a separate battery issue with all Kugas but that’s just the normal battery and is fixed with a simple software update.

Thanks for the replies all; the last comment seems to tie up with what I have heard. The main issue with the fix for current cars is the local dealers need some specialist equipment fitting in their workshops to do the fix. Unfortunately part of the delay seems to be due to some admin bits with the lease company (still getting to the bottom of this and awaiting a reply, but that is a separate issue).
In regard to the fix, I was told the dealers were getting briefed about how this is being rolled out today but not sure when the customers will find out for certain.
Mcfcms, just out of curiosity what was the lead time on ordering your car? I have been led to believe if it all gets sorted soon (as I say waiting for admin bits to be ironed out), there still could be a wait until April, but potentially as late as June for delivery. Disappointing to say the least.

I ordered mine in around March/April, but was delayed due to the Valencia factory being shut for a while due to COVID. Then I was surprised to get a call sometime early August off the lease company about delivery. I know a few people ordered at the same time off the lease deal page on here who are still wilting for theirs. I suppose I just got lucky with mine Unfortunately part of the delay seems to be due to some admin bits with the lease company (still getting to the bottom of this and awaiting a reply, but that is a separate issue).

I charged it up only a few times until I got the warning come up about not plugging it in. When on full battery I was easily getting 35 miles on a charge, sometimes more depending on how I drove it. I’m actually really impressed with the mpg on just petrol, I am averaging about 38mpg at the moment. Still get a decent amount of electric driving through regen on the battery.
It’s a superb car though. I got lucky with the deal and managed to get the ST Line X with first edition pack added, so all the extras including panoramic roof etc. Can’t wait to be able to charge it up again, but the fuel card compensation is more than enough for me until it’s fixed

Crazy people are still waiting since March, that would potentially be a pain if you are giving old lease cars back too!
Due to admin bits that needs ironing out I had potentially thought about swapping to a different car with more hybrids coming out but I’ll wait and see what the lease company say when I speak to them (hopefully they’ll ring today).

People on the Kuga forum and Facebook pages are getting non PHEV models delivered OK it seems. Also stumbled across a thread in the alternative fuels section, it appears the BMW 330e’s are suffering from a similar issue (potentially BMW and Ford using same supplier).
Obviously frustrating for all involved but needs to be right doesn’t it!
They are using the same supplier (Siemens), I'm a Ford dealer.Obviously frustrating for all involved but needs to be right doesn’t it!
Any factory orders are miles away I'm afraid. Cars on the road are priority and then all the stock....then the orders.

Are you giving customers dates at the minute? I spoke to a dealer in regard to the car and was told then that if an order was placed- if delivery was fast it could be April but don’t be surprised if it is June. This was maybe 2 weeks ago, the guy said there was a big ‘call’ that week to brief out the fix to dealers.
I am currently waiting for a call back from the lease people to find out latest info- currently taking everything with a pinch of salt as I am hearing differing information.
Also seen the whole recall thing, I am being told the car has been facelifted since I (attempted) to place an order; did the list price change too?

Winter pack added to a couple of models, rear camera to titanium and up.
