Hi all.
I've been having issues with my KA for a year now, its a 2006 MK1 BAA engine... (All replacement parts in this car are OEM or German made, so nothing cheap).
The KA misfires cyl. 3 and sometimes cyl. 1 (when issue first started, not anymore) a lot in higher RPM. Spark plugs changed, new cables, new coil pack, compression test very good, leaky valve cove fixed, fuel filter replaced.
I'm loosing my mind! furious 6 months ago the issue developed so far that made the car just completely undrivable, loss of power etc.
Recently went to a garage, they said they replaced the MAP sensor and it actually worked smoothly for a (short) time.
Now the issue is back and I'm starting to look for new cars laugh
...But with so much money invested into this rocket ship I think I want to try again , I have two more years to complete my master engineer degree so money is tight right now.
bounce So I think I'm going to go all the way to fix this issue. bounce

Anyone had any similar issues, experiences, maybe some solutions? smash

Move the injectors around between cylinders and see if the misfire codes follow. Compression test you've already done probably excludes the potental for stuck/broken exhaust valve.

Most of the other suggestions you have already done like coil/leads etc.

Do you get the engine light come on at high speed?. We have a similar problem with our Ka but only since having the cam belt changed

Hi all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I got a little upset with the car. Issue found. One of the connectors was corroded and caused the issue. I also took out the injectors, cleaned them, put them back in. Turns out the garage gave me some bull.. as the injectors were covered in very old dirt - so no one cleaned them except from me a while back. While I was at it I cleaned all possible connectors I've managed to get my hands on.

However... The car has developed a new fault (again for like the 3rd time), the screen washer pump has died/gone out and no longer working. Anyone had any similar experience ? I'm thinking of either going to the scrapyard to get the original same pump maybe it'll last longer or add some sort of protection fuse. I predict that the voltage going into the pump peaks too high essentially breaking the pump motor. I'll try to post an update maybe it'll help someone in the near future smile

Yeah I've had this also, but the engine light came on mostly at lower speeds - so when starting off traffic lights etc. My cam belt is fine, however during the next oil change I think i'll try to replace it. The car seemed to be spitting fuel from time to time and essentially loss of power was visible. Once it happened when I was going around 100km/h (60mp/h) but this car is like an animal - it'll still get you to your destination even if it has no legs, hands or eyes.
