Crankshaft seal causing water pump failure?
Discussion
Hi,
Advice would be much appreciated.
Friends focus (2013 titanium 125 ecoboost 1L, 55k miles) has slow coolant loss. Suspect the dreaded O ring. Main dealer says it also has a crankshaft seal leak and this has damaged the water pump. Is this possible or BS? Warranty apparently doesn't cover oil leak but covers water pump. The warranty provider says they will cover the water pump labour (1.5hr) but not the £700 labour for the oil seal & wet belt.
Surely one could argue that the main issue that needs fixing is the O ring - that is a fault causing coolant loss and therefore should be covered by the parts and labour warranty?
Any one here been in a similar situation?
Cheers, Steve
