There is currently 4 different models of the Focus each with facelift versions, so it would have helped greatly if you specified which model and roughly which year you are considering buying.
All I can do is guess and say you are looking at the Mk.3, in which case Zetec trim and above has a "quickclear" heated windscreen.

What do you want from the car?
The 1.6 ecoboost in the Mk3 was the 180bhp turbocharged version, similar to the one in the Fiesta ST. It seems to have a good reputation, although pretty hard to come by and probably a bit out of your £5k budget.
Prior to that the Mk3 came with the 1.6 duratec engine, non-turbo with around 100bhp. Pretty much the same as in the previous 2 generations, it was a good reliable engine but slow by modern standards. I'd say perfect engine for "shedding".
Most Mk3 petrol Focus's came with the 1.0 ecoboost, with either 100 or 125bhp. Early versions had a coolant pipe issue, check the pipe has been replaced, but other than that they are well regarded and loads to choose from. This was the engine Ford introduced to replace the old 1.6 duratec.
