Hi
Does anyone know what the difference is between Ford main dealer ‘standard’ service & maintenance compared to their Motorcraft offerings?
Eg a full Motorcraft service is over £50 cheaper..
Wife’s 6 year old car was in today for full service + brake pads
I got a call to say the front brake discs were under limit. £193 extra to replace over & above just pads. I was out & couldn’t check but agreed to it.
When I got home, a quick check on Ford website says the price difference over just pads is £120 rather than £193.
So I called to query. He agreed that the Motorcraft cost was lower than the one quoted & he could do it for £120
So was the £193 a ‘speculative’ addition
Or are the £120 Motorcraft discs inferior ?!

Ford disks & / or pads in Ford boxing are original equipment, Motorcraft is Ford's aftermarket brand.

While "All Ford and Motorcraft brake parts are developed and tested in compliance with the strictest of Ford specifications and are specifically designed for Ford models", this does not mean that they meet O.E. specification & they will generaly be of a lower specification.

That being said, it's not uncommon to find identical parts in both Ford & Motorcraft boxes on occasion when O.E. parts are being put into the aftermarket supply chain for whatever reason.

Thanks for that.
The discs must be to a good standard, I wasn’t sure if any difference in reality?
‘Only’ the wife’s car & plenty of life insurance..
