I'm very keen on one of these because I've found one that is low mileage and the right price, but they weren't really on my radar until then so I'm just after a bit of advice from those who know them. From what I've read online etc they seem fairly solid.

It's manual so no powershift problems.

It seems that these cars (it's 2012) were subject to a recall for potentially catastrophic overheating. The current owner isn't sure if it has been recalled, is there any way of telling if this has been done?

It also appears that the problems were more serious on the Focus and Fiesta 1.6s. Is this true or did they just get more attention?

I'll probably do the timing belt even though it's nowhere near the mileage just because 8 years is life enough for a bit of rubber that stops your engine blowing up. I was quoted £400+ for this which seems a lot. Is that par?

Anything else to look out for, and especially anything that might suffer from prolonged low/no use?

Thanks in advance

This may or may not be useful but you can check the Etis ford website to see if there any outstanding recalls using just the reg.

Thanks for that. Not showing anything on the reg, which is good!
