Fiesta 1.4 Engine question/problem?
Discussion
Evening all,
My wife has a 2009 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Automatic.
I know absolutely nothing about this engine and its now developed a fault, just trying to diagnose the issue so I can put her mind at ease and avoid any unnecessary work being carried out. I believe its the Duratec engine as its the 94bhp version.
She complained about a burning smell and engine making a strange noise, just took it out for a spin and after 500 yards, had to pull over as its making a right racket and a bad burning smell. Popped the bonnet and one of the pulleys had smoke pouring off it and appears to be abit wobbly!
It's the pulley at the bottom without the 4 bolt heads on. Initially thought it was a water pump but believe that is the pulley behind the smoking one.
I think it's the crank pulley but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!?
I know it will need the belt changed anyway as makes sense to do that whilst it's all off. Should we expect anymore damage to the crank or any other parts?
Thanks everyone.
Editted to add if you zoom in on the picture, you can still see smoke coming off the pulley in question!

That's the air con compressor, it's probably seized and the belt is slipping on it hence the noise and smoke.
Thank you! That does make more sense as she was complaining other week her air con wasn't working, assume needed a regas. Thanks again, going to ring around tomorrow to get it sorted for her.
