I've read up that there are quite alot of issues with the 1.0 from back in the day and the odd one on the 1.6 mainly relating to engine fires.

But circa 2013 if the recalls have been done is the 1.6 Ecoboost a sound engine?

Mods could it stay in general gassing for a bit before it vanishes to a sub forum? smile

Short answer = yes.

Longer answer, Sigma based 1.6 is a very different unit to the 3 cylinder Dragon engine but as long as recalls done and fluids religiously changed then all is good.

As long as the engine has had the recall done don't worry about it. The issue was the thin plastic hard pipes cracking or wearing through and leaking coolant. This causes the engine to overheat and sometime catch fire.

My 2013 Fez ST had the recall and you can tell easily if its been done just look at the coolant overflow tank. If all the hoses are thick rubber ones you're good. If any are really thin, hard plastic (especially the bottom one) its not been done.

We have a 14 plate ST, and it's had the rubber hoses from new.

Even the 1.0 is good aside from early issues with coolant hoses. The 1.6's are properly bullet proof.

Our 1.6T (2012) has been fine since the recall.

Luckily, the failed heater matrix that occurred afterwards was covered by the extended warranty.

I really nice 'town/city' engine the 1.6T - diesel like in its delivery, so a bit gutless about 4k, but for our use, i'm glad we chose it.
