Hi,

I need a little bit of help, my girlfriends Mk7 09 fiesta titanium has been suffering from battery issues for a while now, the battery will randomly go flat and needs jump started,it then starts easily for a few weeks but goes flat again,. I’ve been through the fuse box looking for parasitic battery drain but can find no clues.

Last night at about 3am I was woken up by the alarm going off, I pressed the key fob and it locked up.went out to open it this morning but the battery is completely dead and I Can’t get into the car. There are no manual keys within either of the fobs, doors and boot are locked.

Does anyone have any ides on how I get into it?

There will definitely be a key in the fob. If the fob is the one I think it might be (tapered lozenge shape), then it's under the ford badge that's on the opposite side to the buttons.

was bought second hand and only realized this about 2 years after she bought it. There’s a space inside both fobs for a key but no actual key.

I’ve been out again and noticed that the bonnet was popped so I can get to the battery so not such an issue this time but it’s happened a few times now and really don’t fancy her being stuck after a shift. I’ve bought a charger for the battery and I’m going to test the alternator, it’s definitely charging the battery to a certain degree, is it possible that it’s worn or intermittent?

If you haven't already, have a look at something like a ctek charger, as these not only go some way to recondition the battery, but can also give some indication of the health of the battery.

Until you can look into getting replacement keys - possibly you will need to replace the locks - make sure that she has breakdown cover, as they should be able to help if she gets locked out again.
