MK5 Mondeo remote key issue
Discussion
Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help with an issue on the remote key?
2015 MK5 Mondeo 2.0 Ecoboost
Remote with keyless entry
New batteries fitted Feb 2020 for BOTH remote keys
The top button (unlock the car) works fine, but the middle button ( lock car) and the bottom button (open/close the tailgate) failed to work just this week. Fortunately, I am able to lock the car by touching the strips above the door handle. As a control test, I tried the spare remote key, and all 3 buttons works fine. Based on this simple test, the problem is clearly pointing at the remote key, but it's strange why only the unlock button works, but the other two buttons (lock and tailgate) has failed at the same time. Is the remote key simply fooked or is it a resetting issue / something else?

To close out my own thread...
The remaining open button failed yesterday, so the remote is completely dead.
Using the spare remote, I plucked up courage to venture into Sainsbury to grab some bits for lunch and petrol, and bought some replacement (Duracell CR2025) batteries too. Quick battery changeover and all 3 remote buttons work perfectly. Looks like the Maxwell batteries bought from the dealer are completely dead after 1 month use, so I won't be buying Maxwell brand again!
