Would you take this Focus deal?
Discussion
So I've just started a new job (could be first problem) and I want to sort out my car situation. I'm currently in a 2005 e90 325i BMW with 95k, a broken bluetooth, damp pax carpet and some dings and Kerber wheels.
I do get a car allowance so there are rules on the car I do replace mine with being more than 2 seats, less than 5 years old and less than 70k miles. I have been given the ok to use my car but with the current state it's in changing feels sensible.
I've had used bmws for last 15 years but I've tried to be open about what to replace it with...
Yesterday I was looking at the new Focus ST line X and the car seems pretty decent. I have not driven the one I would want?... 1.5 petrol but wanted to see if it is affordable in the first place.
So the deal on a brand new one (1.5 petrol hatch st line x) 22725 rrp (carwow offer) plus I can get 2k scrappage plus 2 years free servicing, 3 years recovery, 1st year tax all covered. I can chuck in 4k cash as well and it's on 0% PCP with 8-9k balloon payment. Unless the car is a lemon I would look to keep giving me 250 a month payments for 38 months.
My alternative is stick to bmws and try to find a petrol 330i. Not many around which is new enough but also in my price range. Plus ,any are poverty spec and not convinced with a 320i (plus still not cheap enough anyway). With the 4k deposit on 18.5k used would need loan of 14k. IF I can get Hitachi finance 3.2% it also works out as 250 a month but for 60 months. Car is with big motoring world so expect no decent warranty...its not BMW auc!
I think long term the BMW may cost 2k less overall but this could easily disappear in repairs etc over life of the loans.
So is the Ford a good deal? Am I too blinded by the prospect of a brand new car with very very low cost to run bar petrol and insurance? Will I regret switching (I have sat in the right spec car and it does feel nice and I would test drive etc but only worth considering if it adds up right)
Ford scrappage deal runs out and of March and I think trade in I'll get 1k maybe 2k private sale...

Quick question would you be happy with a smaller engine remember it's a 1.5 3 cylinder and actual world mpg is around 42.
I feel like the real ST you'd want is the 2.3 litre especially as your comparing it to a 2.5 or 3 litre BMW.
The company policy to have more than 2 seats opens up plenty of choice as ours only allows4 or more doors. I'm not sure on your circumstances but I'd be looking at a Toyota GT86.

I do know it's a step down. Much rather a 330i but trying to make sensible compromises. Going to get clarification on how flexible the car terms are. I think the proper ST would break my budget too. I have 2 kids so planning on 5 doors so gt86 is out.I feel like the real ST you'd want is the 2.3 litre especially as your comparing it to a 2.5 or 3 litre BMW.

Just realised you mentioned Big Motoring World so must be near me. I'd personally avoid that place, overpriced and knocked around as for their inspections I've seen cars go out with blown (melted) headlamps. But if your into the Focus ST-Line 1.5 petrol defintely drive one, is redhill any good for you? https://www.motors.co.uk/car-56343346/?i=7&m=s... should just be worn in.
That said I previously had a long term rental F34 318d Sport estate in manual, absolutely loved it especially in sport plus mode. Now got a Focus 2.0 diesel Active X estate in manual coming upto 13k in 7 months again its an alright car, pulls well but steering feels abit lost. I could of had the ST-line but felt the higher suspension would benefit me more (speed bumps, pot holes) and you can just park it right upto the kerb without damaging your front bumper whereas an ST-line I saw had a damaged side skirt from being dropped off kerb.
