We've had our Kuga for almost a year now, it's the 1.5 EcoBoost 150 on a lease. For the money we pay it's an outstanding family car, feels nothing like 150 BHP compared to my Fiesta ST150 and Passat TDI of years gone by but I think that is down to the lack of torque on the engine, the wife loves it and I guess that is all that matters.

In a year of ownership the fuel consumption has been terrible though, our previous Focus 1.6 TDCI was averaging 55MPG and the Kuga is seeing 24MPG for the same usage. I knew the quoted 45MPG (Or in that region) was in optimal conditions but I've been shocked at how low it actually is.

I'm interested to hear from others if their experience is the same of this engine? I know the Kuga is a heavy car, but I'm surprised at this.

Although different engine for the 2 litre diesel 150ps Kuga (2015) with fwd only the misses is getting 45mpg. My 6m old Focus with the 2litre is getting around 55mpg which I think is pretty weak as my old Passat easily did 60 plus.

We have a 18my Kuga in Zetec trim with the 1.5 EcoBoost. Its a great family car, but yes the fuel economy is comparatively poor. For mixed urban driving we see around 24-28mpg, and on a run we get 35ish at best? The driving style is very sedate as you would expect in a family car!

I must admit I was expecting far greater economy, particularly coming out of a 2.0 TDCi S-Max (bigger, heavier, auto) but that provided better economy in every scenario.

I have a 2017 Mondeo 1.5 Ecoboost 160ps.

The Mondeo engine feels like a normally aspirated 2 litre petrol from 20 years ago, but with much slower throttle response, and is only marginally less thirsty.

On a very gentle 50mph limit motorway run it will do low 40s mpg, but on a more typical motorway run 35mpg. I dread to think what it would do around town, but it rarely gets used there.

I came from an Octavia 1.4 TSI 150, which is responsive, torquey and economical engine even in the Superb.
