Hi there.

Looking at a fiesta for my son, have a few to look at.

Don’t know much about these, so thought I would get some advice about this one.

What do people think of this car, mileage, price, condition etc.

Any help would be really appreciated.
Want to get him a good one.

Budget about £4500 - £5000. Once his polo is sold.

Regards.

The obvious question ... is the insurance cost ok? Being a 1.6 and a sportier special edition based on a Zetec-S.

Actually, only £125 more than he’s paying now.

Currently a 1.2 Polo Match.

Due a cambelt/water pump at 8 years old. Not a cheap job.

£400 ish for the belts, lose the pink ford badges and paint the wheels silver. Personally I’d look for the more basic Zetec S.

TBF the S1600 does have better trim, but you're probably paying £500 more for it.

I was thinking more along the lines of the ecoboost .... granted its a bit over budget.

Apart from the newer car aspect, I'd rather have the 120 bhp from the older 1.6 engine. I know the 1.0 can be mapped, but I'm not a fan of that engine.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Went to look at the car today. Real dodgy garage.
Certainly wouldn’t recommend them.

Asked to see service history, all they had was the bloody log book...!!!!!!!

Advert said service history, bloody idiots.

Air con was warm, then the ventilation system stopped working & spare tyre was flat.

Garages like this deserve to go under.

There was no service history at all with the car.
But, they did say they have serviced it, which they had, as engine oil was fresh.

What a joke.

Stand clear of this garage...!!!!!!!

Sounds like you dodged one there mate but keep the faith with the Fiesta.

Plenty of good Zetec Sport's out there with that kind of budget.

Been running a 12 plate 1.6 for 3 years now as my wife's car......been absolutely spot on.Yes the timing belt change is a bit on the pricey side and have just had it done for £400...but with a design life of 8 years it's a pretty small expense.(included water pump replacement aswell)

Genuine parts are cheap enough...tyres the same.. no monster sized rims so not expensive.

Servicing is a doddle...(car as a whole is pretty DIY friendly) few jobs like aforementioned timing belt was an exception.....

From a driving point of view it's a great little car...it rides well and is comfortable for long journeys. It doesn't fall over itself in corners either......

In terms of performance it's acceptable enough....use the engine and it will move along okay. Over 20k miles fuel economy average has been around 42-45mpg so pretty good.

Let us know how you get on mate!

Thanks for your reply bud.

Have a couple more to look at soon, which look a bit more promising, full stamped history, low mileage again, 50 to 60 k.

One private, one dealer.

Will keep you posted.

Regards.
