Hello,

sorry, I'm sure this has been posted before!! I recently picked up a 2009 1.8 tdci for the commute to the train station and back. Up until the weekend "Alan" has been fine...

Then he developed hesitation (steady 70 mph on the A14) almost as if he was misfiring. Then the EML came on and he went into limp mode. Switched him off and on again and it cleared, but now he feels very lumpy. I put a code reader on and there are no codes present.

my googling suggests it could be:

1) Split turbo hose/vacuum hose

2) MAF sensor

3) Coil pack

4) EGR valve

5) fuel pump

The whole point of this purchase was to reduce the cost of a car which sat idly in a station car park, and I'd rather not spend the "saving" on garages. Of the list above is anyone able to give me a "most likely" contender? Are they all home DIY jobs (other than maybe the fuel pump).

Thanks and apologies for talking about my car in the first person...

As a quick and cheap first port of call I would throw a new/used MAF sensor on there... shouldn't be more than a few quid off ebay and will take a minute or two to change.

May also be worth chucking some fuel system cleaner into the petrol tank too...wynns or similar.

I had a very similar experience with my 2.2 that was a split in a boost hose from the intercooler, give them a squeeze to check.

If there has been a eml there should be a code, do you have forscan?

No I just tried a "normal" scanner. It's just been on a forscan and needs a new injector. bks.
