Shaker Plates or Play Finder in/around Hertfordshire

So I picked up a Mondeo MK4 for cheap , it had some light damage to the bumper on the front . The bodywork has been repaired and the car since passed its MOT

However I have been unable to diagnose the following :

Loud thud during abrupt speed bumps/ potholes on one side
Wearing of outside edge on Nearside (Front left) tyre

I took it to National tyres who couldn't find anything wrong , suspecting loose steering rack but , told me to find a mechanic with 'Shaker Plates' aka play finders.

Any suggestions welcomed
