Fiesta 1.4 zetec throttle body removal.
Discussion
Got a bit of an issue with a 1.4 zetec duratec fiesta, bit laggy during acceleration. Changed the plus, leads and coil pack, oil and all filters but no change. Other owners suggest cleaning the throttle body and MAP sensor so that's my next step. I have bought a new MAP sensor and intend to remove and clean the throttle body. However here lies my dilemma, some people are telling me it's not recommended to remove and clean the throttle body due to it being electronic it will upset the ecu. Anyone give me some solid advice on this? is it safe to remove and clean? does the ecu have to relearn when it's refitted? if so what's the procedure? finally can you remove it with the plastic inlet manifold in place or does it need to be removed first?
Any advice welcome.
TIA.
