After 11 years it is time to say goodbye to what has been a brilliant car. Unfortunately I am only being offered scrap value of £130 for it. Air con has just ran out of gas 2 weeks ago and heated driver seat failed but everything else still works and it is in good nick for the age. So it is a bitter pill but it failed on emissions, although the tester said the engine light came on during the test and it then started producing smoke, so he said it was a lambda issue

What has anyone else done in such a situation.

Options as I see it are:

1) scrap and have done (easy, but painful)

2) get even less as a part ex (even easier and saves me a train ticket to the dealer to get new car!)

3) use it to learn some mechanic skills with my son (hassle of losing a garage space)

4) take the duratec out and build a kit car and scrap the rest (though it failed MOT on emissions the tester said a lambda sensor would sort it out) (but I am a novice at such things and don't have an engine lift thingy (said I was a novice!)

5) strip some bits off and sell on ebay then scrap the rest (hassle of having a wreck of a car for a while)

6) stick it on ebay and hope for more (dont want time wasters)

7) spend a bit to pass the MOT and try to get more (but probably unrealistic)
