Fiesta TDCi Intermittent limp mode
Discussion
Sister in law's 2014 Fiesta TDCi has an intermittent fault, symptoms are that car will go into limp mode, sometimes with just the "spanner" light, sometimes with the spanner and the check engine light. No pattern discernible about when or where it will do it, could be tootling round town, could be on the motorway.
Fault codes are-
P0299-00
P01328-22
P2599-00
(all of which relate to the turbo)
and another one that's lurking is P0628-47
Garage have checked and can't find any leaks in the turbo pipework, the fault even occurred during their test drive but unable to pin it down.
When it's driving fine the car drives perfectly, absolutely no problem at all (as confirmed by sister-in-law and the garage who looked at it)
Can anyone advise of a common cause of the above set of codes, or alternatively recommend a good specialist in the North East who could take a look?
I've rang the main dealer who want £107 to diagnose, won't warrant that they'll diagnose correctly, and won't deduct the diagnosis fee from the cost of the work. That may still be where we end up going but it doesn't inspire confidence! I'm also very worried that they'll see turbo related codes and just immediately jump to the conclusion that a new turbo is required.

Boost control actuator, control solenoid, sooted vanes, turbo & wiring issues all possibilities.
The "won't warrant a correct diagnosis" isn't uncommon & at least it's up front. Regards deducting the diagnostic time from the repair - they would be suffering a loss if the diagnosis took longer than the repair.....

My Fiesta 1.5 TDCI has the same fault, seams to only occur in the summer months, its been doing it for 3 years now did you pin point the problem ?
Hello, what was the problem? Did You fix? I have the same on the 1.5tdci Fiesta 2013 engine.it is like in your car you: seams to only in the summer months
Turbo control solenoid/electrovalve replaced, Turbo with wastgate and the problem is stil.
DTC: P132b
Sorry for the slow reply,
I haven't fixed the problem but as normal the fault has gone for the winter months, I am sure it will be back in the coming summer / warmer temperatures.
Please let me know if you find the cause on your Fiesta.

Update.
My original fault is still rearing its head, it disappeared during the winter months then as soon as the warm weather returned so did the warning light.
I got a friend to put his scanner on it at the weekend there was no fault codes stored but he found it was displaying a air temperature of minus -40.
So I wonder it its the air intake Temperature sender is faulty and the is at the route of this problem.
Any body have any thoughts or any one or any else had this problem.
Should the temperature value be the ambient air temperature in degrees Celsius.
Thanks in Advance.

The temp sensor didn't fix the fault, the fault went away again during the winter months,
I decided to take punt and change the turbo actuator thinking it is a faulty position sensor that is attached to the actuator, Ford only supply a complete unit.
I think it has fixed the fault, it's been fitted a month now and the fault seems to have gone.
