I've had a problem with my diesel fiesta today and am out of my depth. Wondering what is wrong and how much it will likely cost to fix. If anyone has any ideas on this id like to hear from you.

Whilst driving the following happened in the following order

1. Batt light on

2. abs light on

3. Traction control light on

4. Spedo rev counter not working, nor computer message screen

Drove home, parked, but now it wont start or lock the doors.....

Any ideas?

How old is the battery? I'd start with that. My BMW does all sorts of weird things when the battery is on its last legs. Rather than everything just dying I'm treated to Times Square on acid emanating from the dashboard!

The battery appears to be fine.

When I got home the lights were still on and being as I couldn't use the key to lock the doors they remained on.

The lights being on doesn't mean the battery is fine. First step would be to try another battery or jump leads. As has been said, Ford Fiestas do not like a drained battery. I have experienced the same scenario as yourself and it was the battery.

Try the battery first ... and get the voltage from the Alternator checked too

As I said, my car does weird things when the battery is dead. Not nothing at all, as you'd expect, but weird things that make no sense and make you think there's a more sinister problem 'cause where would the power be coming from for weird things to happen if the battery was dead, right? But it is the battery.

Thanks all.

Seems it was the alternator giving me the issues.
