Hi All,

Going to have a look at a Mondeo 2.0 ecoboost at the weekend.

Anyone have any tips on what to look out for? any common problems etc?

Views and opinions from any current owners also most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Anthony

Bought one brand new in 2009 (148hp Zetec). Gave it to my ex when we got divorced.
It think it's approaching 100k now and no reported issues, it just keeps going.
Good cars.

I had a 2012 Mondeo estate 2.0 Ecoboost 240bhp which I purchased on 38k at 4 years old. 3 months later the turbo failed, which was replaced under warranty and then had zero problems with the car for the next 18 months. Mine was a Titanium X Sport, with all the toys, lovely seats and a nice dual clutch gearbox. It was brisk but not fast so if you want performance you'll find it lacking. I put a Bluefin map on mine, still not sparkling performance wise even with 265bhp, great long distance cruiser though. In the end I found it all a bit boring and chopped it in for an older Ford Focus ST as I no longer needed a big car (bought the wife a 7 seater instead).

Things to watch for, the dual clutch is a wet clutch, the oil needs changing every 40k otherwise it'll give big problems. That's about it apart from the usual things you'd check with any car.

I believe the MK5 Mondeo 2.0 Ecoboost has an auto / torque converter gearbox. Like many people, I was concern with the powershift box so when my 3rd service became due on our 2015 mk5 Mondeo, I booked an oil change for the gear box. However, the Ford service technician informed me the oil change for the gear box was unnecessary as it was just a standard auto i.e. NOT a powershift box. To ease my mind, I double checked the spec from the original brochure + some research from the Ford forum which confirm it was just a standard auto.
