We are considering a Kuga as a family car (it fits our baby car seat far better than our current car).

The price, deal wise between the 120 and the 150 is enough that I am considering the 120 and a remap.

The question is, is the 120 just a detuned version of the 150? The remap is less than the price difference between the 120 and 150 so is a serious consideration.

If they are effectively the same car, then a remap, IMO is a reasonable option.

Thanks!

A remap will void any warranty if anything goes wrong and put extra strain on other parts of the engine.

And you will have to declare it as modified for your insurance.

In answer to my own question, I have had it separately confirmed that as suspected, the internals are identical and it is just the engine map. In that case, I would not really be concerned about extra strain on the engine since they already sell a car running that "power".

To be clear, I wasn't look at mapping it to 300BHP OMG POWAR, but just take the 120 up to a 150.

However, this is no longer relevant, we managed to secure a deal on the 150 that worked out less than a remap cost to a 120.
