2015 Focus ST - Tyre choice?
Discussion
This is where you get everybody who replies recommending a different tyre.
Lets be honest about it you should not even be considering budget tyres on a car like this....so any brand will be perfectly safe and do the job.
It depends on whether you want to drive everywhere like you are on a race track, or just drive normally.
I believe the car comes fitted with Good Year Eagle F1 which are perfectly good and give excellent life....so for me there there would be no reason to change to anything different.

The main reason I asked about other ideas as I find the good years have increased road noise.
You have only had the car 6 months so will presumably be changing tyres for the first time. Is it car still running on Eagle F1's? They are good tyres with very good wear.
Road noise doesn't concern me with tyres because I tend to replace them like for like so wouldn't know any different.
I had a 2015 ST3 with standard fit Pilot Sport 3 on the 19" style pack wheels and the wear was surprisingly good.....still about 4mm left at 13000 miles.
Yes you could fit the more expensive Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or better still 4S that will offer increased grip that you don't actually need in day to day driving, but don't expect the life to be anywhere close to that of the Eagle F1.
Its entirely up to you.....its your money.

Although I haven't tried any others I have Michelin PS4 on mine and have no complaints
I have newish (<1000 miles) PS4s on mine and hate them! They are noticably worse than the PS3s they replaced for causing kickback through the steering wheel over badly patched local roads and crossing white lines to overtake on single carriageways. I didn't rate the PS3s either for the same reason but the twitchiness through the steering wheel with the PS4s is like trying to wrestle with a python sometimes. Before the predictable "it's your geometry, dog!" replies, it's already been done. Tyre pressures are all as per the book as well.
I had Pirelli P Zero PZ4 all round on my ST last summer. Excellent tyres when it's hot, very predictable in the wet too. However, as it got cooler they were terrible. Really the most obvious season specific tyre I've owned.
I'm now about to get all around Michelin PS4s. They wear better and are more useable in our typically cool climate. Had them on a BM 325i M Sport 2 years back. Now I've tried Pirelli's offering I know the PS4s will be the best I can get from Michelin, in my size, without compromising cool weather handling behaviour.

- 4S would be comparable to the P Zero, but perhaps exhibit the same cool weather issues. They still don't do them in 18" I believe

I've had my '66 ST for a couple of months now, and it came from the dealer with Michelin PS3s.
The only complaint I would have is that it seems very prone to wheelspin even in the dry, and I don't really have a heavy right foot. Often.
There's not too much road noise, and whilst I have to deal with bump steer or tram-lining from time to time I've put that down to being on 19's.
Quite often on the FB ST owner's group I see people praising PS4s, so that is top of my list of next time! Though I have long wanted to try Eagle F1s before the ST so they're also in competition.
