S-Max 2.2 TDCi 2012 200BHP Oil Lever Rising
Discussion
My old man bought the car back in May 2018, on 64000 miles.
September the service light came on and I gave it a full service at 68350 miles.
Last week, the service light/oil indicator came on stating it needed another service, however he has only done about 2/3000 miles since September.
He checked the dip stick and the oil level was 7-8mm over the maximum.
I gave it an oil service the night before last and left the oil level on the 3/4 mark this time around, rather than the maximum. He took it out yesterday and did 60 odd miles, keeping the revs up along the dual carriage ways to give it a good run. When he got back it looked as if the oil level was 1-2mm higher, although this could be up for debate and it would be more realistic to check in a week or two.
The statistics on the screen show 70% of the driving he does, the engine is cold.
So, I have a few questions:
Does the S-Max have an oil quality sensor?
I am guessing the raised oil level is down to failed DPF regens which dumps the Diesel in the oil sump?
Are there any common issues with these engines (such as injector seals e.t.c) that would allow fuel into the sump?
No fault codes or lights on the dash shown.
Thanks for any help.
PS: I did tell him to by the 240 petrol version
