Hi

I’ve been rebuilding a 2l Kuga for a while. All bodywork now completed and I’ve started engine service etc

Tick over was a little rough and uneven before I started and I noticed a lot of tiny air bubbles in fuel line.
Changed fuel, oil, air filters and oil.

Tick over is far better, no air in fuel lines but if I blip the pedal, engine appears to hesitate before picking up revs.

On a road test it appears to be missing unless I accelerate reasonably hard in 2nd or 3rd. At this point you can feel the turbo kick in and the car feels much more responsive. As I slow down the missing or hesitation re-occurs.

I'm sure the issue occurs in cars with the same engine, 2.0 tdci

I have read elsewhere, about EGR blanking, but not sure what to do , or even if its the right thing to do ?

All help welcome

Cheers

My 2.2 mk3 mondeo would play up, put the coil light on and go into limp mode .. no codes were ever stored, the only way to record something was with diagnostics hooked up to it. On mine it was electronic, i just unplugged it and it was fine, i eventually replaced it. Ford do recon ones that are priced reasonably.

I've driven a few 2.0TDCi's, Kuga's, S-Max & Galaxy & some are really not that clever, bugger all power without boost & some hesitation while waiting for boost, bit of an on/off engine - nothing wrong with them as such & an "operational feature".....

Off boost the engine is a bit of a slug & it's not uncommon for drivers new to the engine to stall dead at junctions, especially on an incline & it simply needs more throttle to get the on/off turbo to kick in & give adequate power - fine when you are used to it though. The issue is more prominent on the heavier S-Max & Galaxy & may have since been resolved by a SW upgrade.

That being said, this is more like a lack or delay in power issue rather than a miss / judder.
