Fiesta ST mountune or not?

Hi all,

Don't want to state the seemingly obvious but what is the best way to identify a true fiesta ST mountune??
The reason I ask is that I'm going to possibly buy an ST2 on Saturday and on the pics it has the mountune badge on the back of the car. When I put the reg in for the insurance it comes up as a standard ST though. I contacted the garage to find out if it was the mountune or not as I didn't want to possibly over/under insure it, they said there was nothing in the log book saying any update had been carried out which I find odd as it's a ford approved upgrade and surely there would be some record of it. Apparently Arnold Clark ford had carried out all previous services etc and the guy at the garage was waiting to hear back from them to see if they had carried the upgrade out...still waiting.
When I go to see it is there any way of identifying myself, ie the silver cool air inlet box, or the badge being metal and not rubber from eBay??
The garage informed me when they put it up for sale the details on their system showed up mountune mp215 but they aren't selling it as mountune version.
Obvs I don't want to pay over the odds for a car which isn't what it seems.
When I called mountune also with the chassis no. They said it wasn't on their system as being upgraded but sometimes garages etc don't provide the details back to mountune.

Sounds a bit odd, you can just buy the badges from Mountune so might just be someone 'misbadging' to make themselves look 'cool'

Having not had one the only way I know how to tell is to look for the aluminium airbox that is fitted - a quick google will show you what to look for under the bonnet. sounds to me from what you have said that it doesnt have it

I have a Mountune ST215 though there is nothing with it that confirms it is bar the badge on the boot. Having had the ST180, there's stuff all in the performance that would give it away. Mine was a good price even next to normal STs.
On insurance comparison websites, they tend to generate the same premium anyway.

The difference I have found is about £90-120 difference on insurance. Can get normal st for £220 fully comp, mountune with same insurance company £304. Knowing how slippery insurance companies can be don't want to leave anything to chance.

To be fair not declaring a remap is the issue. Be honest and you're fine.

Well I am quite old. All I would say is the Mountune upgrade is certainly not worth extra insurance for. Back to back, they drive much the same.

Give Mountune HQ a call with the reg and VIN - they should be able to confirm.

“MP” upgrades are noted on Ford systems, as they are warranty friendly.

Have a google and ok at the Mountune Fiesta airbox - a quick look under the bonnet will at least see if that’s fitted (it’s part of the MP215 kit).

I think it was a £600 option when new, didn't seem worth it to me.
