Tomorrow i am picking up a Fiesta ST2. I know they are a pretty big target for thieves so i think its best i get some sort of security lock for it, can anybody make any recommendations? Disclok's look fairly sturdy but they're pretty pricey, are they that much better than some of the other alternatives? I am also considering fitting a tracker as i believe they are hard for thieves to find?

Thanks

disclok is a good start, a tracker wont stop it being stolen but may get it you back in trashed state and you will have to tell your insurer if its nicked., parking posts if you have a drive way, but remember if they want it even if it means breaking in to your house they will so dont make it too secure, you and your family are more important than a car.

This one caught my eye, physical lock over the OBD - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-OBDsaver-Securi...

Marcellus thats good to know. The pictures dont give much away, did it feel like a sturdy piece of kit as its not cheap for what effectively looks like 4 bolts.

On another thread about the ST on PH someone noted you could get someone, an auto electrician I assume to disconnect/remove it, then put a note on the windows noting the OBD had been disabled.

The other alternative, not very useful I grant given your situation, is to buy a ST1 without keyless entry/go.

I purposefully avoided ST3s because of keyless entry. Apologies Marcellus, does the Bluefin chip aid in security as well as engine tuning?

Yes it had a setting whereby you could effectively wipe the ECU completely!

Plug the handset in, press button, map gone... leave car, it's not going anywhere under its own steam!

Return to car, plug handset in, press button, map is installed and you're off!

Thats interesting, so it effectively worked as an engine immobiliser till it was plugged in whilst providing the benefits of a stage 1 remap?

I assume from what you're saying keyless entry is more of a risk than keyless go on the ST2's?

I certainly wouldn't do this, why would you advertise it.

You didn’t have to put any remap on it if you didn’t want to as the handset holds your standard map.

No personal experience but I would look at the ghost canbus immobiliser. No idea how secure it is but it makes sense to me.

Assume the logic was to stop the scrotes even bothering to break in in the first place. Assuming they can read.

How did you get on? I test drove one today, came away impressed. Mid range in third is very good considering what it is, & it likes to rev.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. That lovely mountune badge on the back now making me fret more than normal. Lot of car magazines are now rating the stoplock pro as better than disclock. Half the price, just as secure and easier to use. Dunno if anyone else has experienced them

It's sat on my drive right now, already my pride and joy! I know the engine noises are slightly "fake" but it sounds great to me and the steering makes it a joy to corner. I'm still worried though, being the first night every noise i hear outside has me looking out the window lol. Going to invest in a stoplock pro i think, and possibly a faraday case for the keys (though im not sure if these are just for keyless entry, which mine isnt).
