Fiesta st mk7 engine recalls
Discussion
Hi all,
Been considering the mk7 st for my girlfriends next car, and even considering one myself too!
the recall regarding cylinder head cracking and causing fires etc is obviously concerning and wasn’t something I was aware of until I read the Pistonheads review/buyer guide for these cars. I was previously under the impression the mk7 st was very reliable.
Is it certain that only the cars leading upto 2015 require the recall? If so why is this? What does the recall work entail? Is it simply the case that ford add a coolant sensor and warning.
Cheers

The potential vehicles it affects are those with a build date between 2/6/10 - 20/12/14 and with a vehicle ID number between WF0AXXWPMACS52904 and WF0UXXWPGUEA27692.
According to the DVSA the parameters for the date ranges and vehicle id ranges are general, and other factors may mean that whilst a vehicle falls within these ranges, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be affected - Ford made changes during the build of the cars so not everything is affected.
Check the hoses to the coolant tank, and run the VIN through the DVLA site.

enjoy!
They are great fun little cars. Watch for damaged alloys (they may as well be made of chocolate), cheap / poor front end crash repairs (I see a lot of incidents of forums and people trying to repair PCP cars cheaply) and general boy racer abuse... cheap tyres are usually the giveaway.

Thanks podie,
It will be bought outright and hopefully 1 or 2 previous owners preferably not a teenager lol.... I remember how I drove back then, much more sensible now I’m in my 30’s.
I regularly check my e46’s coolant & oil levels regardless of the fact they barely ever move. I won’t trust the sensors but always good to know there’s one there for my gf.
Yeah it will have to be mint, I’m fussy, tried one at a local ford dealer and it was rough, later drove a minter ... both drove great but as you said, alloys were kerbed and shoddy paint in front bumper of the rough one.
