I've tried numerous times to update the Sync, followed the instructions to a tee, youtube vids etc etc.

Every time I get "unable to find install file" from the car when I start the procedure. It's is there on the flash drive.

I called my local dealer, as I didn't buy from them they were not interested. Ford UK customer service were about as much use as tits on a nun. The technical line charges at £1/min. No thanks.

Any advice/ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks!

(Car is a 16 plate Fiesta).

How did you get the update - download or a USB stick from eBay?

I have a 66 plate Fiesta and I'm having this same problem. I've downloaded a Sync 1 update for my sat nav from the Ford UK owner resources. I've extracted the files and copied them onto a USB and when I've tried to install, I'm told that it can't find the files. I've copied the files literally as they've been downloaded, with the directories. Do the files have to be taken out of the directories and put directly onto the USB?

I can't find any other instructions or videos. Help, please?

I downloaded off the ford site having put the VIN in. Unzip the folder and copy to a 64 gig usb flash drive. FAT 32, all as stated on the web site.

Same thing, unable to find install file.

I've tried ex fat 32, copying all files out of the folder, no luck at all.

Success!

Smiljan, thanks a load. Nice work finding that link, I had a long google and never found much.

DEAlliman. Try that link above if you haven't. All you need to do is unzip it. THEN, do as the link says. My problem was, it could not find the install file as it wasn't written out properly. I had word wrap on my notepad which I think messed it all up. Make sure the format of the text mirrors the images from Smiljans link.

Once i'd figured that out, the install went through no probs. Funny look from the neighbour though as I was sat in the car for 20 minutes.

Cheers again beer

OK, thanks for the heads up, both of you. I'll try it.

Chuck328 and Smiljan. I finally got around to trying the suggestion and it worked! I was really worried that I'd be a real girl and not get it. Thank you both.

Just adding my experience - I auccessfully updated the Sync3 in my Mustang yesterday. Unzipped to exFAT USB stick using 7Zip on Windows 10, update went with no problems - took about 35 minutes in total, including about three minutes at the start when it looked like nothing was happening, and the same following a mid-update reboot. Just leave the stick in and wait!

Added bonus - now when I go to visit my dad, the car no longer thinks I've veered off the motorway into a field as the maps are a bit more current smile
