Ford Ka MK1 brake caliper mounting bolts.
Discussion
Hi,
Changed the brake pads yesterday on a Ka, when removing the caliper mounting dust caps you couldn’t see the bolt head easily as they’re about an inch inside. Now with new pads they only go in about a third of an inch but won’t tighten anymore. Is that by design due to pad thickness or am I missing something? So as the piston draws closer with pad wear the head disappears inside the sleeve?
Not driving the car yet until I’ve got it worked out and it’s going for MOT next week hopefully following some restoration work.

I'm certainly no expert but I recently did the front brakes on my 2002 Focus and did not see this. The caliper bolts should screw into the carrier and stay put. The caliper slides along the bolt a little during operation (hence why they're sometimes called sliders), but the bolt itself stays put, at least in my limited experience.
I would disassemble and check everything lines up.
