Hi Guys, Wondering if any of you could help me.

A good friend of mine has a 1986 RS cosworth that he has rebuilt after owning it and loving it for the past 15 years.

It's been standing whilst in rebuild for the last 4 years and now back on the road its running rough, hardly surprising!

The engine needs setting up as he is now experiencing issues with the throttle pot and really this, I beleive is his problem. He has replaced the throttle pot with a new one but how does he know when its in the correct position? Is their a setting procedure or system we need to aquire??

Any help you can give would be very much appreicated.

Cheers

Has he reset the engine management? It might still have the old settings it learned from the faulty throttle pot. Either pull the ECU fuses, or disconnect the battery for 15 mins or so and the ECU should "reboot" with a clean setup. It will then run like a dog for a few miles but learn the new settings and should then be fine.

Other possibilities are clogged injectors or clogged airflow sensor.
