Hello, this is my first post here so please be gentle!

I have a fiesta mk6 post face lift which is the 1.4 petrol engine. The is a noise which sounds like a metal type rattle that comes from the front. At first I thought it was the suspension as it only really happens on road that have a lot of pot holes/ uneven surfaces.

I had a garage check it and they said all the suspension is fine and they think it's the brakes as they could stop the noise when braking slightly. The only problem is that they said they don't know what it is (they checked for free so didn't investigate too much). They said it could be the guide pins (and mentioned another component--but I can't remember).

I did change the brake pads and discs before the mot and torqued everything up correctly. I used copper grease on the backs of the pads and also used a little bit of grease where the pads sit in the area where the tabs go at the top and bottoms of the calliper carrier.

I also didn't buy genuine ford pads and noticed the clip on the pad, which goes into the piston, wasn't as big. I needed to use pliers to pull the clips out as they would just drop into the piston without resistance if I had left them the way they were. I then bled/ flushed the brakes and make sure when I was doing this the new brake fluid was coming out from the calipers.

I changed the brake pads, discs and brake fluid a few days before the mot and took the car on a test run checking the brakes. The brakes were noticeably better and on the mot nothing was mentioned about them.

This problem has only been noticeable for the past few months. Is this because of the pads I used? Or is this just part of a bigger problem?

pologies if I haven't used the correct terminology, I did this in December last year so although I know the procedure the names have long gone out of my memory.

Thanks for the help and advice smile
