'57 S Max aircon control swap

Hi this a question about aircon controls but please bare with me....

I have the NX travel pilot head unit in my '57 plate S Max.

It includes the integral heating/aircon controls which is where my problems start. Im looking to swap the whole unit for a more up to date android based head unit.... I've seen some which are ford specific and look fairly OEM.

My question is..... Can I swap in a stand alone heater control module, along with the requisite trim/surround and expect it to work with the existing wiring.... Is it plug and play or does it require me to mess about with wiring looms and coding?
