Hey everybody, i am rebuilding a Ford fiesta V 1.25 16v with engine code FUJA. i have the manual with all the specs exept for the engine block since they like to make money. bds and all manufacturing companies doesn't even produce piston rings for this car but that is another problem. I am in desperate need fot the TORQUE specs and tecnique for the crankshaft bearing caps and the piston rods. may have found something on the rings. Thanks everybody!!

You might struggle for those, even on Ford's own workshop info (Etis), there are no specs for bottom end torque settings. Their reasoning is that any issue with the bottom end requires a new short motor.

what makes me wonder is the fact that there are a lot of big end and rod caps replacement on sale. no piston rings though.

Hi,

As advised above Ford don't publish torque settings on the main and big end bearings. Ive stripped a 1.4 zetec se that had a ran out of oil. This destroyed the big end and main bearings. Just be aware the block I worked on distorted on releasing the main bearing cradle as the crank wouldn't spin freely. I purchased a used crank and main bearings from ebay. I wanted to see if it could be repaired but expect oil starvation caused more damage.

I would recommend getting an engine rebuilder to look at the engine block or get a low miles used engine.

Did you take the bolts off of the main bearing craddle one by one or did you release VERY slowly all of them in a pattern? I have read somewhere that the cranks on these cars are bolted down from a machine which torques all bolts at the same time. Somebody suggested that if you take off the bolts in reverse pattern by 2/3 Nm at a time it should not bend. anyway there are a lot of low-miles blocks on the web so i think i am gonna go for those. thanks!

Hi,

I released the main bearing cradle bolts gradually. But I suspect the heat that was generated from the lack of oil had damaged the block. People have managed to rebuild these engines google shawspeed.
