How much do you think this will cost me??

Hi all.

So, I have had my Ford KA Luxury 2003 Petrol for 4 years now. It’s currently got 99k on it, and it also has good service history throughout the years.

I’ve had a problem since getting the car and it’s an oil leak. Very, very minor! It’s ever affected the level of oil - ever! It’s been on all of my MOT advisories and my local mechanic who I go to said that every year when I have my MOT, he will just tighten the gasket to prevent oil from leaking because the gasket is made of plastic it can misshapen or something along those lines.

A few days ago, I notice that my coolant level was extremely low. I topped the coolant, and checked again a few days later. The coolant was below minimum again and my Dad checked the car for me and found that fresh oil is leaking and has sprayed all over the bottom behind where the gasket is - not in front towards the head lights, but behind it towards my wheel.. if that makes sense? Lol basically, I can smell burning oil when I put the heater on in the car).

We look e underneath after I have been parking in a couple of places, and I’ve found fresh oil each time so that is leaking, it was well below minimum and coolant was low well! Even though I topped it up. My oil light has never come on.

My dad said most likely I need the gasket replacing! Just wondering how much do you all think this is going to cost? I am taking it to the mechanic but I want to prepare for the worse because the car isn’t really worth more than £300 I would say! It’s been a brilliant car. It’s never let me down in the years I’ve had it so I would be gutted if I had to let her go but needs must
