Ford KA Mk1 Startup issues
Discussion
Hi there,
Hoping you can share some advice!
My wife has a Ford KA Mk1 (2003). It has started to develop a fault where it struggles to start up. You turn the key and you can hear the engine trying to turn over but it doesn't quite get there. After pumping a bit of fuel into the engine and then a few tries it will eventually start. After driving it for a bit, if you turn it off and then on again (even after an hour or two) it will start up first time no problem.
I am sure it isn't the battery as the radio, lights etc. all work when the car is off. Also, surely if the starter motor was at fault it would struggle to start every time? Not sure if there is an issue when it tries to get fuel into the engine or something as pumping the accelerator pedal does usually get it starting.
Any ideas - I clearly am not the most car technical so any help is appreciated, cheers!
