My car is a 15 Plate Ford Fiesta Zetec S.

Since the summer the air con has only really worked on 4. Settings 1, 2 and 3 do still work, albeit faintly and you can tell when used for air con/heating that they should be more powerful than they are.

Upon reading on the internet I’m getting mixed reviews, some saying a blown resistor pack? Bad news is it’s out of warranty with Ford. I’m hoping it’s just a straight forward regas, before I pay for that I was wondering if anyone had any experience from this?

Cheers.

Can you tell any difference between settings 1, 2 and 3? If not, it probably is a blown resistor pack. The resistor is bypassed on setting 4 which is why it still works.

I don't know about the Fiesta, but on most cars it's usually a fairly easy fix that you can do yourself.

Yes - albeit a small difference you can still notice settings 1-3.

Upon tonight I checked again.

No difference between 1-3 for both hot and cold. Only 4 which is working.

Obviously works a bit more on the motorway because of obvious reasons I imagine.

Is this definitely the resistor, then? Easy to fix?

Replacing the resistor is literally a 2 minute job on a Fiesta.
