I was recently browsing through the used car sales of pistonheads / eBay / auto trader (as I do every week) and found myself looking at a car i used to own, a 2008 Mk6 Ford Fiesta ST500.

This was a limited edition (500 made) edition of the Mk6 ST, which included black paint only, black whees, red brakes and some unique bonnet / side stickers.

I was also remarkably surprised at how cheap they are. A 2008 car with 60 - 70k miles can be picked up for £3-4k. Are we looking at an undiscovered future classic?

All you have to do is look at the older Ford range. Anything slightly old with a Ford badge seems to be fetching good value, especially if its a limited run car, like the ST500. Its n/a, and manual - a dieing breed!

There is also the Renault Clio 182 Trophy. These could be purchased for peanuts about 5 years ago, and the price of these have shot up (there is one for sale for £18k).

The ST500 has all the right ingredients but the as yet, the prices have not picked up. Good investment for the future?

It's all in the badge, theres nothing great about them and 3-4k isn't cheap for a 10-year old fiesta. No idea why people try to command double the price of a normal ST for them, they're still slow as fk either way.
If you really wanted what was going to be the second best in the future, try a diamond white Pre-Facelift, hard to come across now let alone in the future and can get them for the same price as a normal ST.

Or diamond white Facelift - there were a few made before ford introduced frost white.

Also there are rumours of a few facelifts with prefacelift dashboards not sure if true or not.

You know, people asking what cars will be worth money in the future is a major contributor to the downfall in the car scene. Old and retro car prices are becoming artificially inflated and excluding people from ownership. We’ve now reached the stage where many petrol heads can’t own an old car unless they earn 50k a year. Look at the prices of not so old cars such as the RS turbo for example. Many years ago the market was fair. Now, unless you’re rich, the best you can hope for is a mondeo daily.
