I think they’re all pretty decent - I had a 1.4 fiesta for years with no issues.
My parents have an ex hire car 2007 1.25 bought at 6 months old, fast forward 11 years and it’s still sweet as a nut. Bar 1 expansion tank and basic servicing nothing has ever gone wrong.
But as said, the mk6 ST is a hoot

Don’t the 1lt turbos pop for no reason?
No not at all. The only thing that kills the 1.0 Fox engine is overheating. There was an issue with coolant de-gas hoses in the Focus and C-Max but that was dealt with via a recall. The other issues are the water pump leaking, and a seal behind the timing cover failing (since modified). As far as the base engine goes though they are very reliable from a mechanical standpoint. The vast majority of cooling system related failures could've been prevented too, if people were a bit more on the ball and checked their levels regularly. Nobody seems to lift their bonnet nowadays though and are happy to drive around with no hot air coming out of their heaters without wondering why!

Been looking for one of those for a while, very over priced IMO. The MK6 Fiesta ST is cheap in comparison, though heavy on fuel.
Had both. The MK6.5 is a nice wee car but a lot of them are getting to the point that bits need replacing. I did consider buying another but most were shagged. Yes they are expensive but they hold their value. I picked up a 60 plate one with all the extras for bottom trade money. I’ll sell the car for a profit when I’m finished with it.

£3-4k for an ST or £5-6k for a Zetec S. The price, engine and brakes would swing it for me.
Up here in Glasgow there are plenty ZS MK7s for £3.5k to £4.5k. These are good quality example. I’ve still to find one like mine but I suppose I was just lucky. STs up here start at £1.5k for a tatty one and upto £4K for a good clean example. The ST is a great wee car and I reckon they will soon start appreciating in value. I had a performance blue one and loved it. I sold it when it needed loads of jobs doing totalling just under £1k. I was trying to get one which had all the jobs sorted but I wasn’t able too.
The Zetec S is nice too but I wouldn’t pay £5k for one. I bought mine in July 2017 with 69k on it full service history, full heated leather, parking sensors, power fold mirrors and tinted windows for £3.8k. I found it on my local gumtree site so worth keeping an eye there for one.

I've never driven a Zetec S, are they a lot slower than the 2.0 ST? I'm looking for a car like yours for a family member.
They are better to drive in all honesty. They are very nippy wee cars and the 1,6 120bhp petrol engine is good. It is also £100 cheaper to tax and mine does 43mpg local driving compared to £230 tax and 30mpg the ST gave. Edited by blade7 on Monday 12th March 21:56

Yep, I'd second that. I took my wife's ST out for a drive the other and had forgotten how good it is! Everyone is so hung up on the performance compared with, say, a Clio 182, but its got enough to be fun. Put it this way, the ST150 offers similar performance to a Mk2 Golf GTI 16 valve and no-one ever said they were slow. Plus, personally I think the pick up low down is good, better I'd imagine than a Mk7 Zetec S....
Its got Mazda based mechanicals and seems to be a very tough little car. Ours is 13 years old now and drives very tightly indeed for its 77,000 miles......
I should add that my wife's previous car was a 205 GTI 1.9 and whilst that was obviously a more exciting and engaging car, the ST Mk6 holds up very well against it as a small fun hatch.
For 2 grand or less, these are really bargains. I honestly don't think they will get much cheaper. Look at values of decent 1990s XR2is (which were very average cars), to see which way they will be heading!!
