2.8 litre Cologne V6 engine Type E Gearbox

Trying to find out if I can fit a Sierra 4x4 2.8 litre Cologne V6 engine on to a Type E gearbox? If this is possible, any information to help me with this project would be really appreciated. The reason for this being I have an Eagle RV, Cortina based and I want to keep the reg. The engine was removed before I bought it. I have to keep the transmission as I need the two points from it to please the DVLA.
