As per the title. Can anyone post up the number of ST170 estates Ford manufactured? I know it's a low number, a bit of research on Google returned only one mention of 130.

Only asking as round the corner from me is a 03 black estate used as a private hire. I noticed the 170 badge on the tailgate, never thought they did estate versions.

Must cost a fair amount in petrol over what a typical derv uses?

Thank you

Think it was around around 130. Don;t really get them though, think they're actually as slow as a 2.0 Zetec, probably lose the handling advantages the ST170 hatch had over the basic Focus.

I must have walked past said focus thousands of times and never paid more than a passing glance. It looks like a bog standard estate, til I saw the st170 badge on the tailgate. Honestly thought it was a good candidate for the misbadged car thread

Strange choice for a private hire cab. Seems reliable enough, maybe the lack of modern emission components make up for the mpg, wonder when 6th was last used?

130, rare enough for higher value?

I think when these climb in value, there won't be anymore than 40 estates left, if that. A good condition one would be a good investment I think.

I bought one of these a few months ago.
They don't look too dissimilar to a normal Focus Estate, but then again, neither do the hatch versions.
It's only the grill and fog lights that are obvious.
The rear bumper is different to the rest of the estates.
They carry the brakes and suspension of the ST, as well as the interior and all the other trimmings.
They're not as nimbleas the hatch but they really do handle very well.
I looked at a couple and they suffer badly with rust. I managed to get a nice solid one with good history smile

Do they feel any quicker than a standard Focus?

Yeah, you can definitely feel the difference in power over the other engine specs in the range.
Driving a 3 door hatch and then this - there's not a great deal in it, especially higher up the rev range when the VVT kicks in.

I never thought the estate would be any quicker, it isn't to 60. Although the trick with the ST170 is it's 40-100 times. You should keep on to it, they'll be where the money is when they're all gone.
