Ford Kuga Sync 3 infotainment query

OK so I have my phone connected to the kuga. I don't like the Android Auto because it's well... sh*t really. Is there anyway I can get whatever music is on the phone to play over bluetooth through the car speakers without invoking android Auto?

I've got Sync 3 in my Mustang. I just pair the phone over bluetooth and then set the phone as the audio source on the stereo. Press play on my normal music player (Black Player) and away it goes. The only problem I find is that every now and then playback doesn't automatically resume when I get in the car, and I have to press play on the phone again. Apart from that, it works well.

Gotcha, so you need to have the media player app on the phone running, but it outputs via car speakers?

That might explain why it's not doing anything when I select 'phone' as source.

Yes - once it's playing, you should be able to control it with the car.

Thank you, that's correct - added bonus I get google maps voice from car speakers too if phone is selected as source (don't want android auto as it's too restrictive)
